Using TYPOlight‘s version 2.6.7

I’m looking for a module or plugin in TYPOlight’s extensions web site, and just searched in their forum listings, documentation…nothing. Only a few notes of create here, create that module. Flash content url is not working or did i miss something.

All I want is to add videos directly in my articles and not to click here, click that creating modules (too many steps).

But adding YouTube in my articles or news is not easy. It just strips the embedded code and I’m using the default editor–Tinymce. So, I just created my own. At the Tinymce menu, click the HTML (Edit HTML source) and paste this code:

<object width="425" height="344" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/KTFYfec6raE&hl=en&fs=1">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KTFYfec6raE&hl=en&fs=1" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="playerMode=embedded" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
</object>

Note: The URL
http://www.youtube.com/v/KTFYfec6raE&hl=en&fs=1
was taken from the embed code of the video, not from the URL web address.

So, the only parts to change are the data and value URL.
First, copy the embed code from YouTube, copy the URL, and paste between the ” ”

<object width="425" height="344" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="Paste Here">
<param name="movie" value="Paste Here" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="playerMode=embedded" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
</object>

Save your article/news and if you want to edit the HTML again, you will notice that some parts of the URL changed, but still works.

For Example:

<object width="320" height="267" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/h32Q7wrbadQ&#91;&amp;&#93;hl=en&#91;&amp;&#93;fs=1">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/h32Q7wrbadQ&#91;&amp;&#93;hl=en&#91;&amp;&#93;fs=1" />
<param name="FlashVars" value="playerMode=embedded" />
<param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
</object>

Sample Output from TYPOlight with video

A typical settings of YouTube:
object width=”425″ height=”344″

You can change the width and height of the embedded code

You can change the width and height of the embedded code

You can change the video to a smaller size:
object width=”320″ height=”267″
ytsmall

UPDATE!
To embed YouTube video, the html insert tag ’embed’ should be included in the TYPOlight’s setting (thanks to Che)
